The Glasgow to Aviemore route
This route takes the M80 motorway north-east from Glasgow to Stirling, then picks up the A9 for the long run north. The M80 is a fast, modern dual carriageway and gets you clear of Glasgow quickly. At Stirling the road joins the A9 and heads through Dunblane and north towards Perth.
From Perth the A9 enters Highland Perthshire, climbing through Pitlochry, Blair Atholl, and over the Drumochter Pass at 460m. The road is dualled in several sections with average speed cameras throughout. North of Drumochter, the landscape opens out into the Spey valley with views of the Cairngorms to the east. Dalwhinnie, Newtonmore, and Kingussie pass before you reach Aviemore.
The whole drive is on major roads with good surfaces. It is a comfortable, predictable transfer with no single-track or challenging sections. In winter, the Drumochter Pass can see snow and ice, but the road is well gritted and our drivers are experienced in these conditions.
Suggested stops along the way

If you are heading to Aviemore for skiing or outdoor activities, we can carry ski bags and equipment in the V-Class. The Cairngorm Mountain road from Aviemore to the ski car park is 9 miles and can require snow chains in bad conditions, though your accommodation or activity provider will advise.
