Royal Troon Golf Club is one of Scotland's most storied Open Championship venues — host of The Open nine times, most recently in 2024. The Old Course, famous for the Postage Stamp par-3 and its punishing back nine, is a bucket-list experience for golfers worldwide. We provide private golf transfers to Royal Troon from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Scottish airports.
About the course
The Old Course at Royal Troon is a classic out-and-back links — the outward nine runs south along the Ayrshire coast with the prevailing wind at your back, while the inward nine returns into the wind through tougher, more demanding holes. The contrast is part of Troon's character: the front nine can flatter, while the back nine — particularly the run from 11 to 13 — can dismantle a scorecard in minutes.
The 8th hole — the Postage Stamp — is the most famous par-3 in links golf. At just 123 yards, it is tiny but terrifying: a narrow green perched above deep bunkers with the wind swirling off the sea. The course stretches to over 7,200 yards from the championship tees but plays shorter from the visitor tees, offering a championship experience that is challenging but fair. The views across to Arran and Ailsa Craig are constant companions.
The drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh

Your driver will collect you from your hotel, apartment or airport and handle the route through Ayrshire while you prepare for your round. After golf, Western Gailes is five minutes north and Prestwick is 10 minutes south — making Troon the natural centre of an Ayrshire links tour.
