The Open returns to St Andrews in July 2027. The town cannot absorb championship week on its own roads. The A91 into Guardbridge and the approaches to the Old Course clog from early morning. A private chauffeur, a hotel outside the worst of it, and a vehicle that already knows the drop points is how you actually get there. We are taking bookings now for 11–18 July 2027.
The R&A has confirmed 11–18 July 2027 on the Old Course. Practice days sit in the days before. The Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club is 7–11 July, so many players, media and spectators run the two weeks as one East Coast stay. We can cover both with the same vehicle.
Transfer plan
- Airport collections from Edinburgh, Dundee, Glasgow or Inverness into Fife, Dundee, the East Neuk or Edinburgh hotels.
- Daily hotel-to-course transfers timed to gate opening, hospitality slots or your planned walk of the course.
- A dedicated vehicle on standby for the week, rather than hoping for a taxi on South Street at 6pm.
- Evening runs to dinners in St Andrews, Anstruther, Dundee or Edinburgh, then a reliable collection.
- Through-week programmes that start at the Scottish Open on the East Lothian coast and move to St Andrews on the Sunday/Monday.
Travel times
| From | Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Edinburgh Airport | 1 hr 15–1 hr 45 min | M90 / A92 in normal traffic. Add 30–45 minutes on championship mornings |
| Dundee | 25–40 min | The practical overnight base when St Andrews hotels are gone |
| Cupar / Guardbridge | 10–20 min | Close enough for an early start without living inside the cordon |
| Anstruther / East Neuk | 20–30 min | A917. Quiet overnight, then in along the coast |
| Glasgow Airport | 2 hours | Via the M80 and Forth. Doable for arrivals, tight as a daily commute |
| Inverness | 3 hours | A9 / A90. Natural if you are adding Highland golf before or after The Open |
Typical bookings
7–10 days
Championship week, dedicated car
Arrive EDI, hotel in Dundee or the East Neuk, daily Old Course drops, evenings as required, airport return after the presentation.
10–12 days
Scottish Open into The Open
East Lothian for 7–11 July, then Fife from the Sunday night. Same chauffeur, same vehicle, one point of contact.
Multi-day
Highland golf, then The Open
Royal Dornoch, Castle Stuart or Nairn first, Inverness to St Andrews on the A9/A90, then championship week on the East Coast.
Local knowledge
- Park-and-ride has historically run from Guardbridge. Spectator cars that try to reach the town centre lose the morning. We drop you at the designated point and take the vehicle out.
- The A91 from Cupar is the choke point. Leaving 45 minutes earlier than a normal St Andrews run is not dramatic; it is the job.
- St Andrews hotels sell out a year ahead. Dundee, Cupar, the East Neuk and Edinburgh are the realistic bases. We run those commutes every day of the week.
- Sunday 11 July 2027 is the Scottish Open finish and the start of Open week. If you are doing both events, say so early so the same chauffeur and car stay with you.
- After the championship, the Old Course is closed to visitor play for a period. If you want to play St Andrews, book your own golf for the days before practice week, or look at Kingsbarns, Dumbarnie, Elie and Carnoustie.
Who this suits
- Hospitality and corporate guests who need a private car, not a shuttle bus
- Spectator groups staying outside St Andrews and commuting in each day
- Golf travellers adding The Open to a Scotland trip, with Highland or East Coast rounds either side
- PAs and travel desks booking one operator for airport, hotel and course for the full week
Questions
- When is The Open at St Andrews in 2027?
- The R&A has confirmed 11 to 18 July 2027 on the Old Course. Practice days sit immediately before. The Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club is 7 to 11 July, the week before.
- Where should we stay if St Andrews is full?
- Dundee, Cupar, Guardbridge, Anstruther and Edinburgh all work if you have a private car. The commute is the service. Trying to taxi that run at 7am in Open week is how people miss the first groups.
- How early should we book a chauffeur for The Open 2027?
- Now, if you already have tickets or hospitality. Championship week at St Andrews is a once-in-five-years problem for the local fleet. We allocate vehicles on a first-come basis.
- Can you collect from Edinburgh Airport during Open week?
- Yes. EDI is the main arrival. We meet you in the terminal, load clubs and luggage, and run you to Fife. Build extra time on championship mornings; the Forth and the M90 are busy.
- Do you also cover golf around The Open?
- Yes. Kingsbarns, Carnoustie, Dumbarnie, Elie and Lundin Links are the sensible places to play when the Old Course is closed. We can also start the trip in the Highlands and finish in Fife.
