Glen Garioch Distillery

Glen Garioch – pronounced 'Glen Geery' – is Scotland's most easterly distillery, located in the market town of Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire. The distillery produces a rich, characterful Highland malt and is part of a cluster of excellent distilleries in the north-east often called the Secret Malts of Aberdeenshire.

History

Thomas Simpson founded Glen Garioch in 1797 in the fertile Garioch region. The distillery has had a chequered history of closures and reopenings but has been in continuous production since 1997. It once made headlines for using waste heat to grow tomatoes in greenhouses. It is now owned by Suntory (Morrison Bowmore).
