Edradour Distillery in Pitlochry

Scottish Distillery Guide

Edradour Distillery

Highland · Est. 1825 · Pitlochry

Edradour is Scotland's smallest traditional distillery, producing around 12 casks per week from a single pair of the smallest stills permitted under Scotch whisky law. Tucked into a narrow glen a short drive east of Pitlochry, it looks more like a collection of farm buildings than a distillery. The tiny scale means you see the entire production in a few rooms, giving an authentic insight into craft whisky-making.

History

The distillery dates to 1825 when a group of local farmers formed a co-operative to distil whisky. It remained a small, traditional operation throughout its history – barely changing for two centuries. Edradour is now owned by Andrew Symington of Signatory Vintage, who has expanded the range while maintaining the artisan character.

The whisky

Rich and creamy with almonds, spice, toffee and a sherry-sweetness.
