Balblair is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, quietly producing whisky in the parish of Edderton since 1790. The distillery overlooks the Dornoch Firth and is known for a fruity, approachable style. Film fans may recognise it as the location used for the distillery scenes in Ken Loach's The Angels' Share.
History
Founded in 1790 by John Ross, Balblair was rebuilt at its current site beside the railway in 1895. The distillery released only vintage-dated expressions for many years before transitioning to age-statement bottlings. It is now owned by the International Beverage Holdings (ThaiBev).
