Kingsbarns Golf Links is one of the finest modern links courses in the world — a Kyle Phillips design that opened in 2000 and immediately earned a place in Scotland's top 10. Set on the Fife coast seven miles south of St Andrews, it combines dramatic clifftop holes with gentle duneland routing. We provide private golf transfers to Kingsbarns from Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews, Dundee and Scottish airports.
About the course
Kingsbarns was built on a stretch of Fife coastline that had been farmland for centuries. Kyle Phillips transformed it into a links course that looks and plays as though it has been here forever — the fairways roll naturally through duneland, the greens sit in natural hollows and platforms, and the sea is visible from every single hole. The clifftop stretch from the 12th to the 15th is among the most spectacular sequences in Scottish golf.
At around 7,100 yards from the championship tees, Kingsbarns is a genuine test for low handicappers, but the multiple tee positions make it enjoyable for all levels. The conditioning is immaculate year-round — the fairways are firm and fast, the greens are true, and the overall experience is polished without losing the rugged character of links golf. It is the perfect complement to St Andrews Old Course, 15 minutes up the coast.
The drive from Edinburgh and St Andrews
Kingsbarns is roughly 90 minutes from Edinburgh via the Forth Road Bridge and coastal Fife road, and just 15 minutes south of St Andrews. The final approach along the coast is scenic, with fields dropping to the sea and the course appearing dramatically on the cliffs. Your driver will collect you from your hotel or airport and deliver you to the pro shop entrance.
