Private Golf Transfers to Boat of Garten Golf Club

Luxury chauffeur transfers to Boat of Garten from Inverness and across Scotland. The Osprey Course in the Cairngorms, 35 minutes from Inverness.

Boat of Garten Golf Club — the Osprey Course — is a James Braid-designed heathland gem in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Founded in 1898, it is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful courses in Scotland. We provide private golf transfers to Boat of Garten from Inverness, Aviemore, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Scottish airports.

About the course

Set among birch woodland and Scots pine, Boat of Garten plays through a landscape of heather, silver birch and mountain views. The course is home to red squirrels on the fairways, roe deer in the rough, and — most famously — the ospreys that nest at nearby Loch Garten and soar overhead throughout the summer months.

At around 5,900 yards from the medal tees, the course favours precision and position over raw power. The heathland turf is firm and fast, the greens are subtle, and the mountain backdrop from virtually every hole makes it feel less like a round of golf and more like a walk through a nature reserve that happens to have flagsticks. The 15th, with its framed view across to the Cairngorm plateau, is one of the most photographed holes in the Highlands.

The drive from Inverness

The 35-minute route from Inverness follows the A9 south through the Slochd pass and into Strathspey, with the Cairngorm mountains opening up ahead. Your driver will collect you from your accommodation and deliver you to the club with time to spare. After your round, we can take you to a Speyside distillery, on to Aviemore, or back to Inverness — the choice is yours.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Boat of Garten called the Osprey Course?

Ospreys nest in the tall Scots pines around Loch Garten, just minutes from the course. The RSPB reserve at Loch Garten has been home to breeding ospreys since the 1950s, and the birds are regularly seen fishing over the loch and soaring above the fairways. Red squirrels, roe deer and capercaillie also inhabit the surrounding woodland.

Is Boat of Garten suitable for all levels?

Yes. At around 5,900 yards from the medal tees, Boat of Garten is a fair and enjoyable course for all abilities. The heathland turf is beautifully maintained, the views are constant, and the pace is relaxed. It is a wonderful counterpoint to longer championship courses elsewhere on a Scottish golf tour.

Can you combine Boat of Garten with a whisky distillery visit?

Absolutely. Speyside's famous distilleries are within 20–30 minutes of the course. Morning golf at Boat of Garten followed by an afternoon tasting at a Speyside distillery is one of our most popular day itineraries from Inverness.

What is the best time of year to play Boat of Garten?

May to September for the warmest conditions and longest daylight. June and July are peak osprey season. Autumn brings spectacular colour to the birch and pine woodland around the course.
