Nairn Golf Club is one of Scotland's finest championship links — a traditional course on the Moray Firth coast, 25 minutes east of Inverness. Founded in 1887 and redesigned by James Braid and Old Tom Morris, it has hosted the Walker Cup, the Curtis Cup, and the Amateur Championship. We provide private golf transfers to Nairn from Inverness, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Scottish airports.
About the course
Nairn occupies a narrow strip of links land between the town and the Moray Firth, with the sea visible from most holes and the mountains of Easter Ross across the water. The course is around 6,700 yards from the medal tees, with fast-running fairways, subtle greens, and the kind of strategic bunkering that rewards players who think their way round. The front nine runs along the coast with open, exposed holes; the back nine turns inland through gorse and heather with more sheltered, technical golf.
Nairn has a long history of hosting major amateur events and has been praised by professionals and amateurs alike for the fairness and quality of its test. The greens are consistently excellent, the condition year-round is impressive, and the clubhouse — overlooking the 1st tee and 18th green with the Firth beyond — is one of the most atmospheric in Scottish golf. The Nairn Dunbar course next door offers a second links option on the same stretch of coast.
The drive from Inverness
Nairn is 25 minutes east of Inverness along the A96, a straightforward coast road that follows the Moray Firth. Your driver will collect you from your Inverness hotel, the airport, or the railway station and deliver you to the club. After your round, Castle Stuart is 20 minutes back toward Inverness, and Royal Dornoch is an hour further north — Nairn sits perfectly in the middle of the Highland golf triangle.
