Highland Park is the most northerly single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Scotland, located in Kirkwall on Orkney. The distillery is renowned for its use of local Hobbister Moor peat – which imparts a distinctive heathery, floral smoke rather than the heavy peat of Islay – and for maintaining traditional floor maltings. The Viking heritage of Orkney is woven through the brand's identity.
History
Founded in 1798, Highland Park is said to have been established on the site used by Magnus Eunson, a notorious 18th-century smuggler and church officer. The name comes from the High Park area of Kirkwall. The distillery has been producing continuously for over two centuries and is now owned by the Edrington Group.
