Frequently asked questions

Do you provide live ferry sailings or timetables?
No. We link to the ferry operators (CalMac, NorthLink, Western Ferries, etc.) so you can check sailings, book, and see service updates on their sites. We do not provide real-time ferry times or availability.
Which ferry routes are included?
Links cover the main Scottish ferry operators: CalMac (West Coast islands, e.g. Skye–Raasay, Mull, Islay), NorthLink (Orkney, Shetland), and others. Filter by region (e.g. Skye) to focus on relevant links.
Why do ferry sailings get cancelled?
Weather – especially high winds – is the main cause. Always confirm your sailing with the operator on the day. If you're connecting a ferry to a chauffeur or tour (e.g. to Skye), we can help plan; see Chauffeur Inverness and Tours.
I'm touring to the Isle of Skye – do I need a ferry?
Skye is connected to the mainland by the Skye Bridge (no ferry). Ferries are needed for other islands (Raasay, Mull, Lewis, Orkney, etc.). See our Isle of Skye destination guide and tours for Skye itineraries.

Plan your Highland trip with a dedicated driver or a guided tour. We run from Inverness to Skye, Speyside, the Cairngorms, and beyond.
