Edinburgh Festival Chauffeur
Beat the traffic, skip the parking, and arrive on time. A private driver who knows the back routes, drop-off points, and one-way systems across Edinburgh during Festival season.
Edinburgh in August is home to the Festival Fringe, Edinburgh International Festival, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and the Edinburgh International Book Festival. The city centre becomes gridlocked, parking is near-impossible, and taxis are unreliable. A private chauffeur means you arrive on time, avoid the stress, and have a reliable pickup after every show.
We know the back routes, the one-way systems, and the best drop-off points around the Royal Mile, Pleasance, Assembly Rooms, and the Castle Esplanade. Whether you are attending a single evening at the Tattoo or spending a full week at the Fringe, our Edinburgh chauffeur service keeps your schedule on track. For broader planning support, see our Edinburgh concierge services.
What we offer during the festivals

Drop at one venue, collect at another. Your driver tracks your schedule and repositions between shows so you never wait on the street.
Airport & hotel collection
Edinburgh Airport to city centre in around 25 minutes. Glasgow Airport in roughly an hour. Meet-and-greet, flight tracking, and luggage assistance included.
VIP & corporate festival packages
Client entertainment at the Fringe, Tattoo or International Festival. Multi-vehicle coordination, timed arrivals, and discreet executive movements for corporate hospitality.
Evening event transport
Late-night pickups after comedy, theatre and music shows. Your driver is on standby so you leave on your schedule, not when a taxi becomes available.
Multi-day festival programmes
A dedicated driver for your entire Edinburgh stay. One point of contact, consistent service, and no repeated booking hassle across a week of events.

Practical festival transport knowledge
Road closures: The Royal Mile is closed to traffic throughout the festival. Princes Street has restricted access and diversions in place. Many side streets around the Old Town become pedestrian-only or one-way during peak hours.
Best drop-off points: George IV Bridge for the Royal Mile venues. Bristo Place for Pleasance and Underbelly. Johnston Terrace for the Castle Esplanade and the Tattoo. Lothian Road for the Traverse and Usher Hall. Your driver will know which approach works best at the time.
Timing: Allow 45 minutes for city centre journeys in August — normally a 15-minute trip. Evening shows create a second wave of congestion from 10pm onwards, especially around the Pleasance and Cowgate. We factor all of this into pickup planning.
Parking: Almost none in central Edinburgh during the festivals. NCP car parks fill early and charge premium rates. Residents’ parking is enforced strictly. A dedicated driver removes this problem entirely.
Our advantage: Local drivers who know the alternative routes and can adapt in real-time. When Cowgate is blocked, we take the Mound. When George IV Bridge is jammed, we come via Lauriston Place. This is experience you cannot get from a mapping app.
Edinburgh Festival chauffeur FAQ
When does the Edinburgh Festival take place?
The main festival season runs throughout August. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Edinburgh International Festival, Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and Edinburgh International Book Festival all overlap during the first three weeks of August, with some events extending into early September.
How far in advance should I book a festival chauffeur?
Book as early as possible for August. We recommend confirming transport at least 4–6 weeks before the festival. Peak dates around the Tattoo and opening weekends fill fast, and last-minute availability is limited across all operators in the city.
What vehicles do you use for festival transport?
We operate Mercedes S-Class, E-Class, V-Class and Vito vehicles. All are maintained to a high standard and suited to city driving during festival congestion. The V-Class works well for groups of up to six.
Can the driver wait while we attend a show?
Yes. Your driver can wait during performances and collect you immediately after the show. This is the most reliable way to leave busy venues in August, when taxis and rideshares are scarce and surge-priced.
Do you cover the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo?
Yes. We regularly handle Tattoo transport. The best drop-off for the Castle Esplanade is Johnston Terrace — your driver will know the approach route, timing, and where to position for collection after the performance.
How is festival chauffeur pricing structured?
We offer both hourly hire and per-journey pricing. For clients attending multiple shows across a day or evening, hourly hire with a dedicated driver is usually the most practical and cost-effective option. Contact us with your schedule for a clear quote.
