Brodie Castle is a charming tower house set in extensive grounds near Forres in Moray. The castle has been home to the Brodie clan since the 16th century and contains an impressive collection of art, furniture and ceramics. The grounds are famous for their spring daffodil collection – over 100 varieties bloom from March to May. The castle was used as a filming location for the Outlander television series.

History

The Brodies of Brodie have held lands here since the 12th century, though the present castle dates primarily from the 16th century with 17th and 19th century additions. The castle was attacked and burned by the Royalist Marquess of Montrose in 1645. The National Trust for Scotland has managed it since 1980. The last Brodie of Brodie, Ninian, died in 2003.
