The route from Inverness Airport to Cawdor Estate
From Inverness Airport we take the A96 east towards Nairn. This is a straightforward dual carriageway for the first section, passing Inverness Retail Park and the outskirts of Culloden before becoming single carriageway towards Nairn. The turning for Cawdor is well signed off the B9090 south of Nairn, and the final approach follows a quiet country road through farmland and mature woodland.
The whole journey is about 30 minutes in normal traffic. It is one of the most direct estate transfers we do from Inverness Airport, and works particularly well for guests arriving on evening flights who want a quick, comfortable onward journey.
About Cawdor Estate
Cawdor Estate is centred around the 14th-century Cawdor Castle, one of the best-preserved tower houses in Scotland. The estate offers holiday cottages and accommodation spread across the grounds, with access to the castle gardens, the Big Wood nature trail, and the Cawdor Tavern in the village. Nairn's beaches and golf courses are ten minutes away, and the Cairngorms National Park is within easy reach to the south.

Local tips from our drivers
The B9090 approach from Nairn is quieter and more scenic than cutting through the village itself. The castle and gardens are seasonal (usually May to October), so winter guests should note that the grounds may be closed, though the cottages and estate accommodation operate year-round. Nairn has two excellent golf courses and some of the driest weather in Scotland, regularly seeing less rain than parts of the south of England.
