The route from Inverness Airport to Boath House
From Inverness Airport we take the A96 east towards Nairn. The road is dual carriageway for the first section past the Inverness Retail Park, then becomes a good single carriageway through Auldearn. Boath House is signed off the A96 just east of Auldearn, about two miles before reaching Nairn itself. The hotel driveway leads through parkland to the main house, a Georgian mansion set in 20 acres of grounds.
The journey is about 35 minutes in normal traffic and is entirely on the A96, making it one of the most straightforward transfers from the airport. There are no single-track roads, no mountain passes, and no tricky turnings.

Boath House is just off the A96 but easy to overshoot if you are not expecting the turning at Auldearn. We know the approach well. The hotel grounds include a walled garden that supplies the kitchen; ask for a garden tour if you are interested in food provenance. Chanonry Point at Fortrose, about 30 minutes from Nairn, is the best place in Scotland for watching bottlenose dolphins from shore. The best viewing is an hour either side of high tide on an incoming tide. Nairn itself has two links golf courses and a long sandy beach that is surprisingly quiet even in summer.

- Is Boath House suitable for a short stay on the way to Speyside?
- Very much so. Nairn sits at the western edge of the whisky trail, and Speyside distilleries like Macallan and Glenfiddich are about an hour east. We can combine a night at Boath House with a distillery tour the following day.
